The Woven World of Jijim RugsJijim rugs & textiles are flat woven using warp-faced (horizontal) patterning with interchanging colored threads between the weft (vertical). The ground woven threads come through on the face, giving off an impression of embroidery. This technique is usually used to decorate a plain woven textile or to create small ornamental motifs. These type of weavings can be used on the ground as rugs or hung on the wall and used as art. |
