Otomi is the Mexican style embroidery called “Tenangos.”
Otomi people live in the Sierra Madre Mountains and are said to be inspired from ancient cave drawings. There is also a strong historical Spanish and Aztec influence within this technique. Each Otomi piece is first drawn on muslin then hand embroidered and depict the flora and fauna of the Otomi region. Uniquely one-one-a-kind, these pieces can take up to 12 months to be completed depending on the size.
