Revivalist modern: felt rugs that elevate utility to art
Felting is the oldest known textile dating back to the neolithic age before the discovery of weaving. Loose wool forms a pattern, hot water is added and then the maker presses and rolls the rug tightly; kneading and compressing the fibers.
*Did you know? Catholic tradition tells of St. Christopher (Patron saint of travel) stuffing raw wool in his sandals to prevent blistering. After traveling the sweat and constant pressing created a felt.
