Kantha is a centuries old type of embroidery from Eastern India made from
up- cycled and remnant cotton or silk saris. The saris are stacked one on top of the other and stitched together to create simple quilts, light blankets and bedspreads. The Kantha technique generally uses a simple running stitch along the edge of the fabric to give it a slightly wrinkled wavy effect. This tradition is practiced by women of all rural classes and passed down from mothers to daughters.
