Paisley is an ornamental textile design of Persian origin
The Boteh is a teardrop shaped motif with a curved upper end. This design was popular in the west in the 18th and 19th centuries. Imported from India in the form of Kashmir shawls which were replicated locally in the town of Paisley in western Scotland. This became a center of Paisley textile design.
